Day 56: Hi Ho, Hi Ho

Snakes on a Plane is not nearly as terrifying as Toddlers on a Plane! A 17 hour flight from Bangkok to New York with two two-year olds is not for the faint of heart. The cramped quarters of economy is no place for children that can barely understand what is going on, so I spent the entire flight in the galley with the crew and one or two screaming H-K’s. I’m not sure that breaking up the trip would have been any better, it was just a necessary evil and many apologies were given to our fellow passengers.

After being home almost two weeks I returned to work today, albeit for a shortened day. It was nice to get back into a routine but also reminded me of how wonderful it was for us in Nepal. There, we didn’t have to worry about meals, cleaning or laundry and could just concentrate on the kids. We will always cherish the time we had to concentrate solely on them without the “noise” of everyday life at home.

We have spent the last week or so getting acclimated to life at home. The kids have their own room and beds – no more sharing a mattress on the floor! Shanti likes sleeping so much that she has even ASKED to go to sleep. Sandeep is sucking up English words like a sponge and even said “injection” at the doctor’s office – ouch! They have even started to spend alone time with the grandparents. This past weekend, Alisha and I were able to steal some alone time with each other for the first time in over six weeks; it was a very refreshing break. I expect our life to begin to look more and more like the typical American family so this will most likely be my last post that i notify you about. I may be updating the blog for the kids to have something to read in the future, so if you want to read up on us feel free to check this site when you have time. I have updated the photos page so check out the albums for more great shots from our trip. I hope you all enjoyed reading our posts as much as we enjoyed putting them together.
